1963年8月28日のワシントンDC。リンカーン記念堂の前。マーチン・ルーサー・キング牧師（Martin Luther King, Jr., ）があの有名な名演説を行います。後に、俗に言う「I have a Dream」演説です。

将来いつの日か、幼い黒人の少年少女たちが、幼い白人の少年少女たちと兄弟姉妹として手に手を取ることができるようになるという夢です。

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."
私には夢がある、いつの日にか、すべての谷は隆起し、丘や山は低地となる。荒地は平らになり、歪んだ地もまっすぐになる日が来ると。「そして神の栄光が現れ、すべての人々が共にその栄光を見るだろう。

そして、この演説の翌年の１９６４年、もちろんキング牧師はノーベル平和賞を受賞します。
