TWAS is a merit-based science academy. Only Members can elect new members. Membership is for life. For an overview of the criteria and the election procedure, please see: Criteria for membership.
The current Membership (i.e. Fellows and Associate Fellows) stands at 1115 [as of 2 October 2013]. One-hundred-and-ten Members are women. TWAS Fellows, who live and work in developing countries, represent 87 percent of the membership; TWAS Associate Fellows live and work in developed countries.
